A new experience

This journal will be used to detail and remind me of all the step I am taking to build our dream house here in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

At this time we are in research mode and learning as much as possible about the process, materials, and equipment available.  We would love to have a truly "Green" home with solar and wind power and gray water irrigation.  We'll see how this goes.

One thing is for certain, I intend to use SIP for our walls and maybe the foundation.  I am looking into both options of ordering a Kit of SIP's or just the boards for a truly custom job.

A few trips to the public library has opened my eyes as to what the project will consist of and what are the building techniques to build a house.   I am a novice at construction and I did manage to finish my basement but I understand this to be a major undertaking and I will be subcontracting most of the jobs and acting as general labor.

I always welcome feedback and suggestions.  I am open minded and looking for new techniques and products.  When I first discussed the possibility of wood panels for the foundation with a friend he told me I could not make a worst mistake, yet from what I read it's a great solution if done properly.

So keep reading, I'll keep on babling.
